Why we only fit genuine Google parts on Pixels
Here’s what most shops won’t tell you. On a Pixel, the cheapest screen can be the most expensive mistake.
Every Pixel from the Pixel 6 onwards, apart from the Fold models, has its fingerprint reader under the screen. The sensor reads your finger through the display, so the display has to be right. Copy screens can leave the reader slow or unreliable, and they’re usually a little dimmer than the original.
Google is unusual here. It sells genuine Pixel parts to independent repair shops like ours. So there’s no reason to put a copy screen in your Pixel, and we don’t. And on the rare occasion Google doesn’t sell a part on its own, like camera lens glass, we tell you up front and talk you through the options.
| Feature | Genuine Google screen (what we fit) | Copy screen |
|---|---|---|
| Panel | Google’s own display, as fitted at the factory | Quality varies a lot |
| Fingerprint reader | ✓ Works as new, calibrated with Google’s software | ✗ Can be slow or unreliable |
| Brightness and colour | ✓ Matches the original | ✗ Usually a little dimmer |
| Our warranty | ✓ 12 months | We don’t fit them on Pixels |

Pixel screen replacement in Norwich
Cracked glass, a black screen that still rings, green or pink lines, flickering, touch that’s stopped working, or “ghost touch” where the phone taps itself. These are all display faults, and the fix is a new screen. Most people call it a screen repair, but on a Pixel the glass and display are one part, so we replace the whole screen.
For a Pixel screen replacement in Norwich, we fit genuine Google screens on every model. That covers the Pixel 10, 9, 8, 7 and 6 and their Pro and Pro XL versions, the a-series up to the 10a, the Folds and the new Pixel 11 series. On the a-series, standard and Pro models it’s usually about an hour, calibration included. Grab a coffee on Haymarket and it’ll be ready. Pixel 11, Fold and older-model screens are priced individually, so ask for a quote, and we’ll order the part in if it isn’t on the shelf.
What happens at your Pixel screen replacement
- We check your Pixel for free and confirm the fault, ideally in Repair Mode so your data stays private.
- You get a fixed price for your exact model before we start.
- We do your Pixel screen replacement here in Norwich with a genuine Google screen, usually while you wait.
- We calibrate the fingerprint sensor with Google’s repair software, then test the display, touch, cameras, speakers and charging.
- You leave with our 12-month parts and labour warranty.
Fingerprint not working after a cheap Pixel screen replacement?
We see this a lot, especially after cheap repairs. It’s usually one of two things: a copy screen the sensor struggles to read through, or a screen that was never calibrated. After every Pixel screen we fit, we calibrate the fingerprint sensor with Google’s own Pixel Update and Software Repair tool. Had yours done elsewhere and the reader isn’t working? Bring it in for a free check.
Do you need a Pixel screen replacement, or is it something else?
If the phone vibrates, rings or shows up on your computer but the display stays black, it’s almost always the screen. If it does nothing at all, it could be the battery or the board. Our diagnostic is free, so you’ll know before you pay a penny. Got a different phone? See our cracked screen price guide.
Pixel 11 screen replacement and repairs
Google announced the Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL and 11 Pro Fold in August 2026, and genuine Google parts are now available for all four. That means we can do your Pixel 11 screen replacement in Norwich with genuine parts, along with batteries and more. Where the fingerprint sensor sits under the screen, we calibrate it, and every repair gets our 12-month warranty.
- Cracked screen, worn battery or other damage? Call or WhatsApp us for a quote. Prices vary by model, and we’ll order your part in if it isn’t on the shelf.
- A fault that isn’t accidental damage? Every Pixel 11 is still within Google’s warranty, so go to Google first. It’s free.

Pixel battery replacement in Norwich
Dying by lunchtime, shutting down at 20%, running hot, or the back starting to lift? That’s a worn or swollen battery. We fit genuine Google batteries from £55 for the a-series and £69 for the standard and Pro models. We can get them for every Pixel, including the Pixel 11 series. Pixel 11, Fold and older-model batteries are priced individually, so ask for a quote.
On most Pixels from the 6 onwards, the battery sits behind the screen, so the screen has to come off first. That’s why the job needs a careful hand and the right adhesive, and why we’ll explain any risk to your screen before we start. Most battery replacements take 45 to 60 minutes.
Check your Pixel’s battery health
On the Pixel 8a and newer, go to Settings > Battery > Battery health to see your battery’s estimated capacity. On older Pixels, go by how it behaves. If it dies early, runs warm or switches off in the cold, it’s worn.
Swollen battery? Stop using it. A bulging back or a screen lifting at the edge means the battery is swelling. Don’t charge it, don’t press on it, and bring it in. Got a Pixel 7a? Read the Google programme note in the known faults table first, because the fix may be free.
Back glass, camera, charging port and other Pixel repairs
Pixel back glass replacement
Every Pixel from the 6 onwards, apart from the a-series, has a glass back, and it cracks just like the front. Cracked back glass also lets in dust and moisture, and it can upset wireless charging. You’ve got two options: new genuine Google back glass from £79, or pre-owned genuine Google back glass if you’d rather pay less. Prices depend on your model and colour, so ask for a quote. It’s usually done the same day, or the next day if your colour needs ordering in. The a-series has a plastic back, which we quote after a look.
Pixel camera and lens glass repair
Blurry photos, a crack across the camera bar, or “Camera keeps stopping”? We can replace a faulty rear camera with a genuine Google camera from £89. Cracked camera lens glass is different. Google doesn’t sell it on its own, but we can still replace it, with a fixed price first. Pixel 7 and 7 Pro owners: cracked camera glass was a widely reported problem on these models, so you’re not alone.
Pixel not charging? Charging port repair
Before you assume the worst, it’s often pocket lint packed into the USB-C port, and we check for that at the free diagnostic. If the port itself is worn and it’s a separate part, as on the Pixel 9 series, we fit a genuine replacement port from £59. On the Pixel 6, 7 and 8 series the USB-C port is soldered to the main board, so that’s a board-level repair we quote after a look.
Pixel speaker, microphone and earpiece repair
Callers can’t hear you, or you can’t hear them? Often it’s just a blocked grille, although sometimes a part has failed. From £49, usually the same day.
Water damaged Pixel repair
First, switch it off, don’t charge it, and bring it in the same day. Water resistance protects a brand-new Pixel in fresh water, not a phone with a cracked screen or tired seals. We open it and check it for free. If the motherboard needs an ultrasonic clean, that’s from £45, and you’ll know the price before we start.
Pixel won’t turn on, or stuck on the Google logo
A boot loop or a phone frozen on the “G” can be software, a failing battery or a board fault. We find out which for free, and you’ll get a fixed price before any work starts.
Pixel Fold screen replacement: Fold, 9 Pro Fold, 10 Pro Fold and 11 Pro Fold
A Pixel Fold screen replacement is specialist work, but we handle it here in Norwich. We order the genuine part in for your phone, then book you in to fit it, usually within a few working days. Be warned: inner screens are some of the most expensive phone parts Google makes. On its own, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s genuine inner screen costs £949.99 as a part. We’ll always give you a firm quote first, and tell you honestly if a repair doesn’t make sense.
Genuine Google parts for every Pixel model
Here’s every Google Pixel phone, newest first. We can get genuine Google screens and batteries for every one of them, including the new Pixel 11 series. “✓ Yes” means the model is covered by the prices above. “Ask for a quote” means it’s priced individually, so call or WhatsApp us for a price. Not sure which Pixel you’ve got? Settings > About phone shows the model at the top.

Known faults by Pixel model
Every phone has its weak spots. Here’s what we see most, and what to do about it.

|---|---|---|
| Pixel 4a | Google’s January 2025 update cut battery capacity on affected phones | Genuine battery after a free check |
| Pixel 6 and 6 Pro | Now five years old, so most batteries are well worn | Genuine battery, 45–60 minutes |
| Pixel 6a | Google’s battery update reduces capacity and charging speed on affected phones once they pass 400 charge cycles. The free replacement offer ended on 8 July 2026 | Genuine battery. We check your phone first and tell you honestly what to expect |
| Pixel 7 and 7 Pro | Rear camera glass cracking, widely reported | Lens glass replaced, with a fixed price first |
| Pixel 7a | Battery swelling. Google’s Extended Repair Programme covers it for three years from purchase, including in the UK | Check g.co/pixel/7abattery first. Outside the programme, we fit a genuine battery |
| Pixel 8 and 8 Pro | USB-C port soldered to the main board | Free check first, as it’s often lint. Board-level port repair quoted |
| Pixel 6 onwards (not Folds) | Fingerprint reader unreliable after a copy screen | Genuine screen plus calibration |
| Pixel Fold models | Inner screen damage | Firm quote, genuine part ordered in |
Before you bring your Pixel in: turn on Repair Mode
Pixels running Android 14 or later have a feature most people have never heard of. Repair Mode locks your photos, messages and accounts away and gives the technician a clean space to test the phone. Nothing is deleted. It takes two minutes:
- Back up your phone. Google Photos and Google One cover most of it.
- Check you have a screen lock (PIN, pattern or password) and at least 2GB of free space.
- Go to Settings > System > Repair mode and tap Enter repair mode. The phone restarts.
- Bring it in. We test your Pixel in Repair Mode without seeing your data.
- When you get it back, tap the Repair Mode notification or go to Settings > System > Repair mode, choose Exit repair mode and enter your PIN. Everything’s back as it was.
Screen too smashed to use? Don’t worry. Bring it in and we’ll talk you through it.
iTech or Google for your Pixel screen replacement?
Honest answer: it depends on what’s wrong and whether you’re still under warranty.
- Go to Google if your Pixel is under Google’s warranty and the fault isn’t accidental damage. It’s free. Google’s UK options are posting it in (all models) or walking into an authorised partner, EE or iSmash, for the Pixel 6 and later.
- Check Google’s programmes first if you’ve got a swelling Pixel 7a.
- Come to us for cracked screens, worn batteries, back glass and out-of-warranty faults, or when you want it back today. Same genuine Google parts, about an hour, 12-month warranty.

Repair, replace or sell?
We sell refurbished phones too, so we’ve no reason to push you either way. If a repair costs close to what your Pixel is worth, we’ll say so and show you tested refurbished phones with a warranty. If your old Pixel still works, we can make you an offer on it. Sell your device.

Google Pixel repair FAQs
How much does a Google Pixel screen replacement cost in Norwich?
With a genuine Google screen, Pixel screen replacement at iTech Norwich starts from £129 for the a-series (Pixel 6a to 10a). The Pixel 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 start from £149, and the Pro and Pro XL models from £189. The new Pixel 11 series, the Fold models and older Pixels are priced individually, so ask for a quote. Every price includes the part, fitting, fingerprint calibration and a 12-month warranty, and we confirm it before we start.
Do you use genuine Google parts for Pixel repairs?
Yes. We fit new genuine Google parts on every Pixel model, including the new Pixel 11 series. For back glass we can also offer pre-owned genuine Google glass, which costs less. The one exception is camera lens glass, which Google doesn't sell on its own, and we always tell you that before we start.
Which Pixel models can you get genuine Google parts for?
Every Pixel model, including the new Pixel 11 series. Screens and batteries for the a-series, the Pixel 6 to 10 and the Pro models are covered by our standard prices. The Pixel 11 series, the Fold models and Pixels older than the 6 are priced individually, so ask for a quote.
Are you a Google authorised repair partner?
No. Google's authorised walk-in partners in the UK are EE and iSmash. We're an independent Norwich repair shop, but we fit the same genuine Google parts and calibrate fingerprint sensors with Google's own Pixel Update and Software Repair tool.
Why is my Pixel fingerprint sensor not working after a screen replacement?
On the Pixel 6 and newer, apart from the Fold models, the fingerprint sensor sits under the screen. It usually stops working properly because a copy screen was fitted or the sensor wasn't calibrated afterwards. We fit a genuine Google screen and calibrate the sensor with Google's software, so it works as it should.
How long does a Pixel screen replacement take?
A Pixel screen replacement at our Norwich shop usually takes about an hour, including fingerprint calibration. If your part isn't on the shelf, we order the genuine part in for your phone, then book you in to fit it. That's more likely for the Pixel 11 series, the Folds and older models.
Can you repair the Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL and 11 Pro Fold?
Yes. Genuine Google parts are now available for the whole Pixel 11 series. We can replace screens, batteries and more on the Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL and 11 Pro Fold, with our 12-month warranty. Prices vary by model, so call or WhatsApp us for a quote. If your Pixel 11 has a fault that isn't accidental damage, it's still within Google's warranty, so go to Google first.
How much does a Pixel battery replacement cost in Norwich?
A genuine Google battery fitted at iTech Norwich costs from £55 for the a-series and from £69 for the standard and Pro models. Most take 45 to 60 minutes and come with a 12-month warranty.
What is Pixel Repair Mode and should I use it?
Repair Mode keeps your photos, messages and accounts locked away while a technician tests your phone, and it doesn't delete anything. On Pixels running Android 14 or later, go to Settings, then System, then Repair mode, and tap Enter repair mode. You need a screen lock and at least 2GB of free space.
Will a Pixel screen or battery replacement delete my data?
No. A screen, battery or back glass replacement doesn't touch your storage. We still recommend a backup and Repair Mode before any repair, just to be safe.
My Pixel 7a battery is swelling. What should I do?
Stop using and charging it. Google runs an Extended Repair Programme for Pixel 7a battery swelling that lasts three years from the original purchase date, including in the UK, so check g.co/pixel/7abattery first. If you're outside it, we fit a genuine Google battery.
Can I still get a free Pixel 6a battery from Google?
No. Google's Pixel 6a Battery Performance Programme ended on 8 July 2026. We can fit a genuine Google battery, and we'll check your phone first and tell you honestly what to expect.
The camera glass on my Pixel 7 or 7 Pro has cracked. Can you fix it?
Usually, yes. Cracked rear camera glass was a widely reported problem on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. Google doesn't sell the camera glass on its own, but we can still replace it, with a fixed price before we start. If the camera itself is damaged, a genuine rear camera is from £89.
Can you replace cracked Pixel back glass?
Yes. We fit new genuine Google back glass from £79, or pre-owned genuine Google back glass if you'd rather pay less. Prices depend on your model and colour, so ask for a quote. The a-series has a plastic back, which we also quote.
Why won't my Pixel charge?
Very often it's pocket lint packed into the USB-C port, and we check for that at the free diagnostic. If the port itself is worn and it's a separate part, as on the Pixel 9 series, we fit a genuine replacement from £59. On the Pixel 6, 7 and 8 series the port is soldered to the main board, so we quote that repair after a look.
My Pixel is stuck on the Google logo. Can you fix it?
Usually, yes. A boot loop can be software, a failing battery or a board fault. Our diagnostic is free, and you'll get a fixed price before any work starts.
Can you repair a Pixel Fold inner screen?
Yes, for the Pixel Fold, 9 Pro Fold, 10 Pro Fold and the new 11 Pro Fold. Inner screens are among the most expensive parts Google makes: the Pixel 10 Pro Fold's genuine inner screen costs £949.99 as a part on its own (October 2026). So we give you a firm quote first, order the genuine part in and book you in to fit it.
Should I go to Google instead?
If your Pixel is under Google's warranty and the fault isn't accidental damage, yes, because it's free. Google's UK options are mail-in for all models, or walk-in at EE and iSmash for Pixel 6 and later. For cracked screens, worn batteries and out-of-warranty repairs, we fit the same genuine parts in about an hour.
Is there a Google Store in Norwich?
No, there's no Google Store in Norwich. For a Pixel repair you can walk into iTech Norwich at 2 Haymarket, NR2 1QD, seven days a week.
Can you fix a water damaged Pixel?
Often, yes. Switch it off, don't charge it and bring it in the same day. The diagnostic is free. If the motherboard needs an ultrasonic clean, that's from £45, and we confirm the price before we start.
Is the diagnostic free?
Yes. All our diagnostics are free, and you get a fixed price before any work starts. No fix, no fee. Motherboard cleaning after water damage is a paid repair, from £45, and we only do it with your go-ahead.
What warranty do you give on Pixel repairs?
Every Pixel repair with a genuine Google part comes with our 12-month parts and labour warranty.
Do I need to book a Pixel repair?
No, walk-ins are welcome seven days a week: Monday to Saturday 9am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm. For a Pixel 11, a Fold or an older model, call 01603 664444 or WhatsApp us first. We'll quote and order your part if it isn't on the shelf.
Do you buy old Pixel phones?
Yes. We buy recent Pixel phones in working order and sell tested refurbished phones with a warranty. Bring yours in for a valuation.
